Several changes to Sri Lanka's T20 side after England tour

A 15-player Sri Lanka squad has been named for the three T20 matches scheduled against Pakistan, with several changes made compared to the T20 series played against England recently.
This squad, named by the selection committee chaired by Mr Kapila Wijegunawardene, has received the approval of the Ministry of Sports, and with the return of Kusal Mendis, who missed the 3 T20 matches against England due to an injury, he has also been handed the captaincy.
Notably, Charith Asalanka, who led the side in Mendis's absence, has not been included in the squad this time. Pathum Nissanka, Pawan Rathnayake, Wanindu Hasaranga, Janith Liyanage, Tharindu Rathnayake and Dilshan Madushanka have also not been named for the Pakistan series.
Meanwhile, Sineth Jayawardena, Sahan Arachchige, Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth have joined the squad as newcomers. It is striking that Chamindu Wickramasinghe has been named in this squad purely as a batter.
Sineth Jayawardena, who has represented the Sri Lanka U19 side, is a player with bowling ability as well as batting. He also captained the Sri Lanka side at the 2023 U19 Asia Cup tournament.
Three T20 matches are scheduled between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka squad is due to depart for Pakistan on October 04.
All three T20 matches will be played in Rawalpindi, with the first match on October 9, the second on October 11 and the third on October 13.
